COLOUR MATCHING
Three simple ways of putting colours together
There are three different ways to create a colour scheme, these are based on where colours sit on the colour wheel and are described here:
Harmony
Those colours that sit next to each other on the colour wheel harmonise with one another particularly well. Like yellow and green or red and orange, they are related so when used together they achieve beautifully balanced effect.
Tone
Tones are quite simply shades of the same colour. Using different shades of a colour together can create a very coordinated look. Perhaps pair Flamingo Pink with Powder Pink or Intense Violet with French Lavender for instant charm.
Contrast
Colours that sit opposite one another on the colour wheel can work brilliantly together. When you're aiming to create a visual impact or add a little drama, colour combinations like red and green or blue and yellow contrast beautifully.
